Since last 25 years I have been roming in Kolhapur.... And have been testing food from every corner of the city....and suddenly I realized that I should share this with some one.....

So lets start with my yesterdays experience.......
Place : Khasbaug , All India Special Bhel, ( AISB)

The One & only RAJABHAU.....

The scene was , huge crowd in front of AISB,  Mr. Rajabhau;age 70years, was seating on a chair observing the behavier of crowd..... I wondered ..... As I went to place my order, I saw Rajabhau's son & grandson was on the counter.

You will find a systematic team there. Everyone has their own area of working. Someone is cutiing onion, someone is packing take home parcels, and two perfectionist mixes the mixture.
The way, they mix it is just awsome.....and you must experience it..... just dont miss it.....

When you are in Kolhapur, to visit Mahalaxmi Temple, Rajabhau's All India Special Bhel is just on the walking distance from Temple....

Rankala

On western side of Mahalakshmi temple, the Rankala Lake, is a popular evening spot and recreation centre. This lake was constructed by late Maharajah, Shri Shahu Chhatrapati. The Lake is surrounded by Chaupati and other gardens. In the backdrop stands majestic Shalini Palace. Shalini Palace is the only star-rated Palace Hotel in Maharashtra. Chaupati also brings memories of Chatak daar Bhel-Puri and Ragda-Patties and variety of food snacks. In past, Kolhapur was famous as a centre for Film Industry. Many Marathi movies, Hindi movies have been shot in studios in Kolhapur. ShantKiran Studio on Rankala Lake was shot in numerous movies. This studio was owned by V. Shantaram (V stands Vanakudre), gift to Indian Film industry. Today, those days in history is being remembered as golden past.  Witness of historical events during 750-850 AD Formerly, this was an extensive mine of black stone. During 800-900 AD, there were earthquakes, which transformed the mine. There across big holes through which water from under ground collect. Located at a distance of half a kilometer from the Mahalakshmi Temple is a huge lake called "RANKALA LAKE". This is the oldest of all, it is thought and was given more importance in the past as a big temple of Nandi and a fine resort called 'Sandhya Math' have been built. The idol of Nandi is very big and rare. To the northern end of the lake is the Shalini Palace. To the southeast is Padmaraje garden. This lake is picturesque and it's a pleasure to go for a walk along this lake. At two spots one can reach the water, at Rajghat and Maratha ghat. There is a tower on the Rajghat. In front of this tower are the Shalini Palace and Ambai swimming tank. The spot is famous for movie shootings. The 'Sandhya Math' in the lake is mostly under water during the rainy reason.

Bahubali

Bahubali Hill Temple

Bahubali Hill Temples are located 27 km south of Kolhapur, Maharashtra on the Bahubali Hills. Huge devotees thronged the temple to worship the 28-feet tall marble statue of Bahubali and visit the temples of the 24 Tirthankaras or saints. These hills are popularly known as 'Kumbhojgiri'. A Celibacy Resort was established in 1935 and named after the sage Bahubali who mediated here about 300 years before.

This temple looks very beautiful and splendid. The scene of the forest and the village farms looks full of delight and beauty. People visiting these temples have to climb about 400 steps. A fair is held here on the 15th day of the bright half of the month of Kartak, on the 15th day of the bright half of the month Chaitra and on the 10th of day the dark half of the month of Magasar

Visitors can take a train from the nearest railway station at Hathkalangad, about 8 km away, on Kolhapur - Miraj railway line. This temple is at a distance of 31 km from Kolhapur. There are steps for climbing the hill. Bus service and private vehicles are available. They go to the foot of the hill. The Swetambar Jain Trust provides accommodation for the devotees.

The museum is spread over 7 acres area and has almost 80 scenes which showcase more than 300 statues. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and is surrounded with lush greenery. Every aspect of village life has been depicted in this museum. It is a perfect blend of fact, powerful imagination and enormous hard work in getting the life-like expressions of the whole village.This museum showcases different aspects of Gramjivan (village life). ‘Gram’ means ‘village’ and ‘jivan’ means ‘life’ in Marathi language. This initiative was dream project of Mahatma Gandhi, visually and symbolically created through the vision and efforts of Siddheshwar Trust. The history of self-sufficient village life before invasion of Mughals in Maharshtra is depicted here in the form of wax sculptures. Each sculpture is life-like and has a multi dimensional effect and lifestyle theme. There were 12 ALUTEDARS (12 main profession-based castes i.e. Professions performed from generation to generations by families) and 18 BALUTEDARS, who provided equipments to all villagers to fulfill their day-to-day necessities (domestic as well as professional).

Kaneri : Shiva's holy place
I it is one of the spot-. Aloof from publicity but working. It is only a mile from Kolhapur. It is said that in the 14th century Shiva-Pindi was, installed by a Lingayat Priest on a high hill surrounded by natural beauty.

Original Mandir was Hemadpanti. The interior is 10'x10' with 2 small mandaps out side, with a big Naadi Built on engraved stone-pillars, it is peaceful and charming. 

About 500 years ago, a Lingayat Priest kadsiddheshwar developed it. A well 125' deep is seen. Shivaji & Sambhaji Maharaj visited & donated. A tomb of Muslim Priest Mirasaheb, who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva, was built on this hill, as in Miraj. It is equally worshipped. 

Lakhs of devotees form Maharashtra & Kamatak gather on Shivaratri. Frorn their gifts Kadsiddheswar Institute works out many plans. It raised the idol of Shiva 42' tall, and holy water is given through an elephant's trunk. Bus-service is available from Kolhapur. The spot is really worth visiting!
